- WDM or Wave Division Multiplexing knows two international standards, one of them is DWDM, Dense Wave Division Multiplexing. Dense indicates few space between the waves or, as they are commonly referred to, channels. DWDM is often used in situations where more than 16 channels are required and/or distances over 80 km. Opticonnect offers a range of passive DWDM Multiplexers using the wavelengths from 1528.77 nm through 1563.86 nm with a channel spacing of 0.8 nm (100 Ghz).
Passive DWDM is an implementation of DWDM that uses no electrical power. It separates the wavelengths using passive optical components. The signal comes from optics placed in switches, routers or server. Opticonnect offers a range of DWDM optics compatible with all major hardware vendors.
